The original Roll of Honour first published in 1922 is kept in the City Chambers in George Square and another copy is available to view in the Mitchell Library. The Scottish Military Research Group has transcribed this Roll of Honour.
More than 18,000 men from Glasgow lost their lives in the First World War, out of approximately 200,000 who enlisted. The City of Glasgow Roll of Honour and the Cenotaph in George Square (which doesn't include names) were among the memorials created in Glasgow to commemorate those men.
