Trinity College Library, Broad Street, Oxford was erected in 1928 as a memorial to 155 members of the College who fell in the First World War (only slightly fewer, 133, died in the Second World War).

The names of those who lost their lives in the First World War are commemorated on a wooden board inside the building and include one Officer of the Yorkshire Regiment. Also amongst those commemorated is the double VC winner, Noel Godfrey Chavasse.

The Greek inscription on the memorial is from Pericles' funeral oration for the dead of the Pelopnnesian War (Thucydides Book II Chapter 43) which translates as "Giving their bodies, they received undying praise".
