Brandhoek New Military Cemetery

Brandhoek New Military Cemetery contains 530 Commonwealth burials of the First World War and 28 German war graves. The burials are of July and August 1917 and among them is the grave of Captain Noel Chavasse, VC and Bar, MC, one of only three men who have won the Victoria Cross twice.

Son of Mr. G. W. Carrick, of Crakehill, Topcliffe, Thirsk, Yorks. Died 10 August
1917. Aged 24.
Born Bolton-on-Swale, Enlisted Northallerton, Resided Stanton (Langton, Northallerton)
Private William Dickinson. 36204. 2nd Battalion Yorkshire Regiment.
Formerly 3/22148 East Yorks Regiment. Killed 4 August 1917.
Born Hull, Enlisted Beverley, Residence Paull (Yorks).
