One very disappointing aspect of the East Rounton War Memorial
is that it has been allowed to weather very badly. Three of the faces (away
from the road) bear names of those who returned from the War, but are so badly
weathered that only one or two names are at all legible.
This War Memorial serves as a prime example as to why it is essential to record
similar memorials before they also deteriorate as badly as the one at East Rounton.
However, the Deputy Chair of the Rountons Parish Council, Mrs Anne Simpson (<Anne.Simpson@dti.gsi.gov.uk>), has very kindly forwarded the original transcription from the East Rounton War Memorial. This was recorded in the Rountons parish records. The names that used to be legible on the East Rounton War memorial can now be read on the East Rounton Roll of Honour page.
