The War Memorial in All Saints' Church, for Wetheringsett (Suffolk), - or more correctly Wetheringsett cum Brockford, is a marble plaque commemorating 20 names as having lost their lives in the First World War, and 6 names for the Second World War.

We are very grateful to Simon Knott who has provided the photos of the memorial and of the church.

Peter Clarke has provided extensive biographical information on the names that are commemorated.

Two soldiers who served with the Yorkshire Regiment are commemorated on this memorial.


Private George Bedwell. 42817. 8th Battalion the Yorkshire Regiment, formerly 172664 RFA. Killed 22 September 1917.
Born Sweffling (Suffolk), Enlisted Bury St. Edmunds, Resided Brockford (Nr Stowmarket).
Buried LIJSSENTHOEK MILITARY CEMETERY.

Private Albert Keeble. 235309. 8th Battalion The King's (Liverpool Regiment), formerly 241970 the Yorkshire Regiment. Killed 8 October 1918.
Born Wetheringsett (Suffolk), Enlisted Stowmarket (Suffolk), Resided Stowmarket.
Buried ANNEUX BRITISH CEMETERY.
