The
Wellingborough War Memorial

The War Memorial for Wellingborough is located at the junction of Broad Green with Harrowden Road (the A5193).
The memorial is a tall square cenotaph with an arched capstone. A concave wall behind the cenotaph commemorates the names of those who lost their lives inboth World Wars.
537 names are commemorated as having lost their lives in the First World War, and 139 in the Second World War.
4 soldiers who served with the Yorkshire Regiment are commemorated on the memorial.

Formerly 156795 R F A. Son of George and Emma Jane Dean, of 5, Upper Havelock
St., Wellingborough; husband of Rose Lily Dean, of 2, Holly Gardens, Wellingborough.
Killed 7 June 1917. Aged 28.
Born Oundle (Northants), Enlisted Northampton, Resided Wellington.
Commemorated on Panel 33, YPRES (MENIN GATE) MEMORIAL.
(SDGW incorrectly shows "Wellington" as place of residence.)
Private Charles Goosey. 202285. 4th Battalion the Yorkshire Regiment,
formerly 4794 Northants Regt. Killed 27 May 1918.
Born Wellingborough (Northants), Enlisted Northampton.
Commemorated on the SOISSONS MEMORIAL.
Private George Herbert Noble. 235066. 7th Battalion Yorkshire Regiment.
Son of William Michael and Sarah Noble; husband of Annie Noble, of 3, Lyndhurst
Rd., Luton, Beds. Native of Wellingborough, Northants. Died of wounds 29 April
1917. Aged 40.
Born Wellingborough, Enlisted Luton.
Buried ETAPLES MILITARY CEMETERY.
