TThe War Memorial for Warboys (Cambridgeshire) is situated at the junction
of School Road and the High Street (B1040).
The memorial is a square pillar with a small Latin Cross on top.
The memorial commemorates 52 names from the First World War, 6 from the Second World War, and 1 from the Korean War.
One soldier who served with the Yorkshire Regiment is commemorated on this memorial.
Private Charles Wilderspin. 5274. 5th Battalion the Yorkshire Regiment,
formerly 4292 Cambs Regt. Husband of Agnes Wilderspin, of 23, London Rd.,
Chelmsford, Essex. Killed 25 November 1916. Aged 29.
Enlisted Cambridge, Resided St. Ives.
Buried ST. SEVER CEMETERY EXTENSION, ROUEN.
(Shown on the memorial as "Charles E Wilderspin". However, the CWGC record shows that Charles Wilderspin's wife's name was Agnes, and this is also shown in the 1911 census with both residing in Warboys.)
