The Tweedmouth War Memorial is set in a small garden area close to the Royal Tweed Bridge that crosses the River Tweed, Berwick Upon Tweed, Northumberland.

The memorial is on a five-stepped base surmounted by a pedestal and a bronze angel kneeling.

Of the 119 names on the memorial, 1 is that of a soldier who served in the Yorkshire Regiment.


Private William Nelson. 142224. 21st Battalion Machine Gun Corps (Infantry), formerly 204199 the Yorkshire Regiment. Killed 24 March 1918.
Born Tweedmouth, Enlisted Coldstream.
Commemorated Panel 90 to 93, POZIERES MEMORIAL.
(Shown as "William E Nelson" on the Tweedmouth War Memorial, but his Pension Ledger card shows the middle name to be Edward.)
