The First World War Memorial in All Saints' Church, Thurlton, is a marble plaque that commemorates 11 men who lost their lives in that war. Amongst these names is that of one soldier who served with the Yorkshire Regiment.

We are very grateful to Peter Clarke who has provided the photos of the memorial and of the church. Peter Clarke has also provided extensive biographical information on the names that are commemorated.


Private Henry John Woodrow. 235273. 5th Battalion the Yorkshire Regiment. Husband of Eva Adeline Woodrow, of Beccles Rd., Thurton, Norton, Norwich. Killed 27 May 1918. Aged 31.
Born Gorleston, Enlisted Great Yarmouth, Resided Langley (Norwich).
Commemorated on the SOISSONS MEMORIAL.
