The First World War Memorial in Johnson Street, South Shields

The War Memorial in Johnson Street, South Shields, was a Roll of Honour in a glass-fronted oak cabinet with pedimented top which contains the title. The names are listed in two columns. The names of those men killed or drowned are at the bottom of the right hand column.

Private Jerrett Urwin, 44139. 6th Battalion Yorkshire Regiment. Formerly 20023 Durham L I. Son of Margaret Urwin, of 169, South Palmerston St., South Shields, and the late George Welsh Urwin. Killed 10 October 1917. Aged 27.
Born South Shields, Enlisted South Shields.
