Holy Trinity Church in Laygate Street, South Shields, was demolished
in 1980. Where the church stood is now a grassed-over area. No headstones
remain in the churchyard.
The War Memorial inside the church which commemorated the names of 232 men
who lost their lives in the First World war was subsequently lost. However,
there is a transcription of these names on the North
East War Memorials Project website.
Associated with this church was the Holy Trinity School. A Roll of Honour commemorating the names of 90 past pupils from the school who lost their lives in the First World War has been transcribed on the North East War Memorials Project website.
