The Roll of Honourfor the Shildon Wagon Works - 1

The National Railway Museum at Shildon (County Durham), - "Locomotion", displays the Roll of Honour for the Shildon Wagon Works in the First World War. Shildon was a "Railway Town" at the time of the First World War, and a large number of men were employed in the Wagon Works.
Of the 536 men commemorated in the Roll of Honour, 79 lost their lives. Of these 79 men, 6 served in the Yorkshire Regiment.
Private Ralph Bainbridge. 6257. 5th Battalion Connaught
Rangers attd. 29th Trench Mortar Bty., formerly 15931 Yorkshire Regiment.
Brother of Mrs. M. Cummins, of 25, Soho St., New Shildon, Co. Durham. Killed
3 December 1917. Aged 30.
Born New Shildon, Enlisted Stokesley, Resided New Shildon (Co. Durham).
Commemorated Panel 45, JERUSALEM MEMORIAL.
Private Frederick Mills. 34108. 7th Battalion the Yorkshire
Regiment, formerly 29333 Lincolnshire Regt. Killed 16 October 1917.
Born Shildon (Durham), Enlisted Bishop Auckland, Resided Shildon.
Buried DOZINGHEM MILITARY CEMETERY.
Private Robert Major Murton. 21094. 7th Battalion Yorkshire
Regiment. Formerly 18762 Durham L I. Killed 1 July 1916.
Born Eye (Suffolk), Enlisted Durham, Resided New Shildon (Durham).
Buried FRICOURT BRITISH CEMETERY.
(It appears that the full name of Private Murton is "Robert Major Murton"
as shown on the Eye (Suffolk) War Memorial, although as "Robert Murton"
in the CWGC and SDGW data. See Peter Clarke's notes.)
Corporal George Gregory Pearson. 38717. 9th Battalion
the Yorkshire Regiment. Husband of Lily Pearson, of 16, Elm Rd., Shildon,
Co. Durham. Killed 17 July 1917. Aged 24.
Born Shildon (Durham), Enlisted Sunderland, Resided New Shildon.
Buried LARCH WOOD (RAILWAY CUTTING) CEMETERY.

Regiment. Killed 7 December 1916.
Born South Church (Durham), Enlisted Darlington, Resided Shildon.

Private Thomas William Robson. 38716. 9th Battalion
the Yorkshire Regiment. Son of Mrs. Elizabeth Stainthorpe, of 10, Regent St.,
New Shildon, Co. Durham. Killed 25 June 1917. Aged 28.
Born Shildon (Durham), Enlisted Bishop Auckland, Resided New Shildon.
