The Ranmoor War Memorial is a Celtic-style wheel cross mounted on a square plinth. It is located in the churchyard of St. John the Evangelist, Ranmoor.

Inside the church, fixed to an internal column, is a metal plaque commemorating the names of those who lost their lives in the First World War.

58 names are commemorated as having lost their lives in the First World War on both the Cross outside the Church and the metal plaque inside the Church..

One soldier who served with the Yorkshire Regiment is commemorated on the two memorials.


Private George Gosney. 41752. 6th Battalion the Yorkshire Regiment, formerly 174456 R F A. Son of Mary Ann Gosney, of Hagg Farm, Manchester Rd., Sheffield. Killed 12 October 1917. Aged 20.
Born Sheffield, Enlisted Sheffield, Resided Upper Hallam (Near Sheffield).
Buried DOZINGHEM MILITARY CEMETERY.
