The Scunthorpe War Memorial is a sculpture of a Soldier and sailor both holding unfurling standard between them, surmounting a tall pedestal. A wreath and a lion molded separately are on a front pedestal. Winged bronze plaque representing the RAF during the Second World War is also on front of pedestal.
The names of those who lost their lives in the First and Second World Wars,
and subsequent conflicts, are commemorated in a glazed and framed Roll of
Honour posted outside the North Lincolnshire Museum, Oswald Road, Scunthorpe.
This Roll of Honour has twelve columns of names that lists the names in 12
columns. There are
457 names are commemorated for the First World War, and 307 for the Second
World War.

Three soldiers who served with the Yorkshire Regiment are commemorated on this memorial.
Private Fred Briggs. 34776. 5th Battalion the Yorkshire
Regiment, formerly TR/5/14041 4th T R Battn. Son of George and Annie Briggs,
of 12 Cottage Beck Rd., New Brumby, Lincolnshire. Killed 16 September 1918.
Aged 19.
Born Broomby (Lincs), Enlisted Scunthorpe.
Buried CHAUNY COMMUNAL CEMETERY BRITISH EXTENSION.
Private John William Kirk. 10740. 6th Battalion Yorkshire
Regiment. Son of George and Sarah Ann Kirk, of 34, V. R, Ashby, Scunthorpe.
Killed 10 August 1915. Aged 21.
Born Frodingham (Lincs), Enlisted Middlesbrough, Resided Ashby (Lincs).
Commemorated on Panel 55 to 58, HELLES MEMORIAL.
Private Tom Percy Singleton. 235323. 9th Battalion
Yorkshire Regiment. Formerly 8939 Northumberland Fusiliers. Son of Charles
and Mary Singleton, of Market Rasen, Lincs.; husband of the late Milsa Mary
Singleton. Killed 20 September 1917. Aged 35.
Born Market Raisin, Enlisted Scunthorpe (Lincs).
