The memorial to those employees of the Scottish Legal Life Assurance Company, Glasgow , who lost their lives in the First World War is located in the Reception of the Company's Headquarters at 95, Bothwell Street.

The memorial is a rectangular plaque with a nowy head. Two carved pillars are on either side of the plaque. Decorative carvings throughout the pillars. Lettering raised in gold.

40 names are commemorated as having lost their lives in the First World War.

One soldier who served with the Yorkshire Regiment is commemorated on this memorial.


Private Archie Throp. 38157. 6th Battalion Yorkshire Regiment. Husband of Emily Throp, of 3, Daisy Mount, Sowerby Bridge, Yorks. Killed 28 November 1917. Aged 37.
Born Halifax (Yorks), Enlisted Halifax, Resided Sowerby Bridge.
