The Portslade War Memorial consists of two plaques mounted on
a stone wall with a Bronze torch mounted between them. The memorial is located
in East Hill Park, Portslade.
Originally, the First World War plaque was mounted on a free-standing tablet
which was in the shape of a door with a triangular pediment. Two bronze torches
flanked the plaque. This tablet stood outside the Portslade Royal British
Legion Club.
243 names are commemorated as having lost their lives in the First World War,
and 45 names for the Second World War. Additionally, one name for a non-combat
related death is inscribed on the tablet on which the plaques are mounted.
The names on the War Memorial, together with brief biographies, are listed
