The Penistone War Memorial outside St. John's Church

Outside St. John's Church, Penistone, is is a free standing
stone built pillar surmounted by a cross. The memorial is located by the roadside
directly outside the main entrance of the St John The Baptist Church.
The commemorative panels are at the base of the memorial. Three front facing
panels commemorate 42 names of those who fell in the First World War. Panels
at the side commemorate 30 names of those who fell in the Second World War.
Inside the Lady Chapel in St. John's Church, Penistone, are two War Memorials,
- one on each side of the altar.
Both War Memorials are wooden boards, with the names commemorated carved into
them.
50 soldiers are commemorated as having lost their lives in the First World
war and 24 in the Second World War.

On both memorials, 1 soldier who served with the Yorkshire Regiment is commemorated.
