The Peak Dale War Memorial stands in a Garden of Remembrance at School Road
in the village of Peak Dale, near Buxton.
The memorial commemorates 28 men who lost their lives in the First World War
and 7 who lost their lives in the Second World War. The First World War names
are engraved in black on three sides of a granite obelisk on a pedestal and
two-step base. The dedication is on the front face of the obelisk. The names
of the dead from the Second World War are inscribed on the base.
A transcription of the names on the memorial, with brief biographical details, is provided on the Derby and Derbyshire War Memorials Project website.
One soldier who served with the Yorkshire Regiment is commemorated on the memorial.
We are very grateful to Richard Clarke and Chris Preston of the Derby and Derbyshire War Memorials Project for permission to use their images of this memorial.
