Inside St. Peter's Church, Osmotherley, are two distinct War Memorials.
On the wall facing the entrance door is a plaque, commemorating those who lost their lives in both World Wars.
On the opposite wall is a stained glass window that commemorates those who lost their lives in the First World War.
The names commemorated for the First World War on the plaque are (with the names of those who served in the Yorkshire Regiment shown in bold);-

The names commemorated for the Second World War on the plaque are;

Those who lost their lives in the First World War are also commemorated on three stained glass windows that are positioned on the wall opposite the above plaque.


Private Henry Lister Beecroft. 11790. 6th Battalion Yorkshire Regiment. Uncle of Lister Beecroft, of 46, Greta Rd., Norton, Stockton-on-Tees. Killed 21 August 1915.
Born Osmotherley, Enlisted Osmotherley, Resided Norton-on-Tees.
Commemorated Panel 55 to 58, Helles Memorial.

Corporal Reginald Christon. 204773. 1st/5th Battalion Yorkshire Regiment. Son of Mr. C. Christon, of Walk Mill Lodge, Osmotherley, Northallerton, Yorks. Killed 30 March 1918. Aged 20.
Enlisted Northallerton, Resided Crosby.
Buried PARGNY BRITISH CEMETERY.

Private John Thomas Hutchinson. 40152. 9th (Northumberland Hussars) Battalion Northumberland Fusiliers, formerly 28023 the Yorkshire Regiment. Son of Thomas and Elizabeth Hutchinson, of Rocky Plain, Osmotherly, Northallerton, Yorks. Killed 11 April 1918. Aged 20.
Born Potto (Yorks), Enlisted Richmond (Yorks).
Commemorated Panel 2, PLOEGSTEERT MEMORIAL.

Private Walter Poynter. 2509. 2nd/4th Battalion Yorkshire Regiment. Son of John Robert and Louisa Poynter. Born at Darlington. Died 28 March 1916. Aged 23.
Born Darlington, Enlisted Northallerton, Resided Darlington.
Buried Osmotherley Cemetery.

Private John Sayer. 33270. 6th Battalion Yorkshire Regiment. Brother of Mrs. Annie Knock, of "Kirkgate," Market Place, Thirsk, Yorks. Killed 15 September 1916. Aged 23.
Born Osmotherley, Enlisted Northallerton, Resided Osmotherley.
Buried BLIGHTY VALLEY CEMETERY, AUTHUILE WOOD.

Private James Weighell. 34716. 10th Battalion King's Own Yorkshire Light Infantry, formerly 5435 the Yorkshire Regiment. Son of William and Lily Weighell, of Mount Lodge, Staddle Bridge, Northallerton, Yorks. Killed 25 September 1916. Aged 21.
Born Osmotherley (Yorks), Enlisted Northallerton.
Commemorated Pier and Face 11 C and 12 A., THIEPVAL MEMORIAL.
