On the Victoria Embankment, Nottingham, overlooking the River Trent, is the main Nottingham War Memorial. This is a Triumphal Arch and Gateway flanked by a colonnade with terraces. Three arched openings are filled with ornamental wrought iron gates.
The City Coat of Arms is in high relief above themain cornice.
The whole is set in a 36 acre Memorial Garden.

A War Memorial for all those from Nottinghamshire who lost their lives in the First World War is set in the Memorial Garden. This memorial is a central stone pillar with an inscribed dedicatory inscription. This is surrounded by a polished stone circle with the names of those commemorated in gold lettering.
13501 names of those from Nottinghamshire who lost their lives in the First World War are inscribed on these plaques.

Illustrations of the two memorials are shown below.

Unfortunately there is currently no available list of names of those commemorated on the Nottinghamshire War Memorial.
The names commemorated on the memorial are barely legible (they seem to have deteriorated rapidly).
Previously there have been readily available Rolls of Honour for Nottingham / Nottinghamshire on the internet. For whatever reason these virtual Rolls of Honour have been withdrawn.
Until such virtual Rolls of Honour are available again, the names of Yorkshire Regiment soldiers assumed to be on the Nottinghamshire War Memorial will be taken from the database of names on the Yorkshire Regiment Remembrance website, principally using information from Soldiers Died in the Great War.

The names of Yorkshire Regiment soldiers from Nottingham / Nottinghamshire obtained from this database, and assumed to be commemorated on the Nottinghamshire War Memorial, are below.
