The War Memorial for Newmarket is located in a memorial garden located at the cross-roads of Bury Road and Fordham Road in Newmarket.

The memorial is a pillar on a stepped base surmounted by an urn. A sword and wreath are on the East and West faces. The names of those who lost their lives in the First World War are commemorated on stone plaques on the four sides of the base. Those who lost their lives in the Second World War, together with several civilians, are commemorated on four stone books arranged at the base of the memorial.

218 names are commemorated with respect to the First World War and 82 for the Second World War. 13 civilians are also commemorated as having lost their lives in the Second World War.

Of the names of those who lost their lives in the First World War, 4 are those of soldiers who served in the Yorkshire Regiment.

Details of the names commemorated may be found on the Roll of Honour website, as well as on Newmarket's Local History Society website.
