The Newbrough War Memorial is an Aberdeen Granite Cross , on a freestone
base, of Celtic type. Affixed to the front of the main pedestal is a tapering
copper plaque with decorative arched pattern at top, inside which are the
dates "1914" and "1918", below which is the information.
Each name is in its own cartouche, the lettering and cartouche in raised Roman
capitals.
A second bronze plaque on the front of the upper step carries the information
from 1939-1945, with the names raised in half relief in Roman capitals, and
the dates carried on a central panel. On each plaque the names are carried
in two columns. The cross is set into a narrow brick built enclosure.
The memorial is located next to the Town Hall in Stanegate, Newbrough.
30 names are commemorated as having lost their lives in the First World War, and 10 in the Second World War.
