The War Memorial for Mitcham is located to the West of Lower Green, just off Church Road, Mitcham.

The Mitcham War Memorial is a stone cross set on a plinth and five-stepped octagonal base. The commmeorations and dedication are on the plinth in relief lettring. Bronze swords are placed at each corner of the plinth.

587 names are commemorated as having lost their lives in the First World War and 122 in the Second World War.

One soldier who served with the Yorkshire Regiment is commemorated on this memorial.


Private Thomas Sealey, 34001. 13th Battalion the Yorkshire Regiment, formerly 6572 AVC. Killed 22 March 1918.
Born Mitcham (Surrey), Enlisted Wimbledon, Resided Mitcham.
Commemorated on Bay 5, ARRAS MEMORIAL.
