Outside All Saints' Church, Middlesbrough, on a wall beside the main church entrance and facing the road, are two iron plaques that commemorate the employees of Messrrs Gjers, Mills and Company of the Ayresome Iron Works who lost their lives in the two World Wars.

The upper plaque commemorates 21 names of those who lost their lives in the First World War, of whom 5 were soldiers who served in the Yorkshire Regiment.
The lower plaque commemorates 6 names of those who lost their lives in the Second World War

Bolckow provides further information and photos of Messrrs Gjers, Mills and Company of the Ayresome Iron Works on his Flickr photostream.

Sadly, in 2007 thieves ripped the First World War Memorial off the wall, and it was subsequently found dumped in a skip where they had tried to sell the memorial for scrap metal. Fortunately, the memorial, - although badly damaged, was recovered and in 2015 was recast and restored after funding had been obtained.
