A stone tablet attached to the wall of the Mission Meeting Room in Marton, North Yorkshire, commemorates 6 men who lost their lives in the First World War. Of these men, 2 served with the Yorkshire Regiment.

Lance Corporal Albert Best, 1430. 5th Battalion Yorkshire Regiment. Son of Robert and Hannah Best, of Marton, Sinnington, Yorks. Killed 19 March 1916. Aged 28.
Born Kirbymoorside, Enlisted Pickering, Resided Marton (Sinnington).
Commemorated Panel 33,YPRES (MENIN GATE) MEMORIAL.

Serjeant William Hudson, 20351. 6th Battalion the Yorkshire Regiment. Son of George and Hannah Hudson, of West Heslerton, Yorks. Killed 15 December 1917. Aged 28.
Born Newton-on-Rawcliff, Enlisted Marton, Resided West Heslerton.
Buried NOUEX-LES-MINES COMMUNAL CEMETERY EXTENSION.
