A brass plaque in All Saints' Church. Manfield (Richmondshire, North Yorkshire) commemorates Private Thomas Gowton of the 4th Battalion Yorkshire Regiment. The text on the plaque reads;-

IN MEMORY OF/ PTE THOMAS GOWTON/ 4TH BATTN YORKS REGT/ KILLED IN ACTION/ AT ARMENTIERES/ OCT 6TH 1915 AGED 28 YEARS.

Private Thomas Gowton. 2250. 4th Battalion the Yorkshire Regiment. Killed 6 October 1915.
Enlisted Cliffe, Resided Mansfield (Yorks).
Buried CHAPELLE D'ARMENTIERES OLD MILITARY CEMETERY.
*SDGW incorrectly, and confusingly, puts Thomas Gowton as living in Mansfield.)
