Left Hand Panel of the War Memorial in St. Mark's Church, Longwood (Kirklees)

The War Memorial in St. Mark's Church, Longwood, consists of two wooden panels with the commemorated names carved in upper case letters. The two panels sit on either side of a dedicatory stained glass window.
100 names are commemorated as having lost their lives on this memorial, 3 of whom served in the Yorkshire Regiment.
Private Wilfred Steel Brook, 38417. 7th Battalion Yorkshire Regiment,
formerly 5/36399 10th T R Battn. Killed on 25 June 1917.
Born Huddersfield, Enlisted Huddersfield.
Commemorated on Bay 5, ARRAS MEMORIAL.
Private Richmond Micklethwaite, 260106. 2nd Battalion Yorkshire
Regiment. Killed 31 July 1917.
Born Huddersfield, Enlisted Huddersfield.
Commemorated on Panel 33, YPRES (MENIN GATE) MEMORIAL.
(Shown on memorial as "R Mickelthwaite". Correct spelling of name
is "Micklethwaite".)
Private Milton Whitehead, 29191. 8th Battalion Yorkshire Regiment.
Son of Mr. and Mrs. Whitehead, of Milnsbridge, Huddersfield. Killed 28 September
1917. Aged 22.
Born Paddock (Huddersfield), Enlisted Huddersfield, Resided Milnesbridge.
Buried TYNE COT CEMETERY.
