The War Memorial in St. Michael's Church, Liverton, is a stone
tablet inscribed;-
"IN PROUD AND LOVING MEMORY OF THE MEN OF THIS PARISH WHO MADE THE SUPREME
SACRIFICE IN THE GREAT WAR 1914 - 1918. THEIR NAME LIVETH FOR EVERMORE."

Killed 15 September 1916.

(In the 1911 census, Joseph Fishwick, aged 15, was living at 6 Graham St,
Liverton Mines, Loftus. He was a Belt Lad in a Stone Mine. He was living with
Joseph and Clara Matilda Wharton, his step-parents, and 3 brothers and 1 step-sister.)

Killed 9 April 1917.
Born Brotton (Yorks), Enlisted Saltburn, Resided Loftus.

L/Cpl Wilfred Horner, 20851. 12th Battalion Duke of Wellington's
(West Riding Regiment), formerly 9701 Yorkshire Regiment. Killed 17 July 1916.
Born Whitby, Enlisted Loftus, Resided Whitby.
Buried LA NEUVILLE BRITISH CEMETERY, CORBIE.

Killed 31 August 1917.

Serjeant Richard Oglesby MM, 3/8839. 9th Battalion Yorkshire Regiment.
Son of Sarah Ann Footer (formerly Oglesby), of 19, East Crescent, Loftus,
Yorks, and the late Thomas Oglesby. Killed 24 September 1917. Aged 35
Born Stokesly, Enlisted Richmond, Resided Loftus (Yorks).

Killed 22 March 1918.
