The War Memorial for Leighton Buzzard

The Leighton Buzzard War Memorial is a rough hewn monolith set
atop a two stepped base. An inset cross is positioned on the front face. The
dedication is inscribed at the bottom of monolith and top step.
The monolith is said to be the largest single granite block ever quarried
in the UK.
171 names are commemorated as having lost their lives in the First World War, and 51 in the Second World War. There is also 1 name from a subsequent conflict.
One soldier who served with the Yorkshire Regiment is commemorated on the War Memorial.

St., Leighton Buzzard, Beds. Killed 17 September 1917. Aged 19.
Born Eggington (Beds), Enlisted Luton, Resided Leighton Buzzard.
Buried VOORMEZEELE ENCLOSURE NOS 1 AND 2.
