The Kilham (East Yorks) War Memorial

The Kilham War Memorial is located outside All Saints' Church facing Church Street.

The memorial is a stone wheel cross with tapering octagonal shaft, surmounting a stone pedestal. The pedestal bears the dedication in incised black lettering, with the First World War commemorations on the sides. An additional book-shaped stone on the base commemorates the names of the Second World War fallen.

20 names are commemorated as having lost their lives in the First World War, and 8 in the Second World War.

4 soldiers who served in the Yorkshire Regiment are commemorated on the memorial.

Private Harry Tallentire. 2288. 5th Battalion Yorkshire Regiment. Son of the late Richard and Mary Tallentire; husband of Mary Alice Tallentire, of Harpham Rd., Kilham, Lowthorpe, Yorks. Killed 26 April 1915. Aged 33.
Born Bridlington, Enlisted Driffield, Resided Kilham (Driffield).

Lance Corporal Tom Herbert Waines. 21033. 13th Battalion Yorkshire Regiment. Husband of Florence Waines, of 9, The Green, Darmanstown, Redcar, Yorks. Died 25 January 1918. Aged 34.
Born Staxtonwold (Yorks), Enlisted Middlesbrough, Resided North Ormesby.
