Photo : George Riordan (<george.riordan@btinternet.com>)
Inside All Saints' Church, Ingleby Arncliffe, is a brass plaque that commemorates Serjeant Adamson of the Yorkshire Regiment.
A soldier who served with the Yorkshire Regiment is buried close to the entrance doorway of the church. Although he died after the war had ended, the cause of his death is attributed to war service. He is buried together with his daughter and her husband.

Marsay. In the 1911 Census William H Stockdale is shown as working as a farm
labourer, aged 16, with his grandfather at a farm in Scarborough. The 5th
Battalion recruited around Scarborough, and it is possible that he joined
them first. The low regimental number indicates joining pre-1914.
In the Green Howards Gazette database he is shown as "P O W", in
the March 1919 issue.
Married Gladys Hunt in Q4 1919. One daughter, Rita, born Q2 1920.
