The First World War Memorial in St. Ignatius' Church, Hendon (Sunderland) is described in the North East War Memorials Project website.

The memorial is a Triptych of a distinctive shape. The central part takes the form of a crucifix with a circle surrounding the crossing.
The doors are shaped to fit the curve of the circle, opening out into four panels. Each panel is outlined by a narrow patterned border. At the top of the two centre panels is a wreath inside which are the dates “1914” and “1918”, with the dedication below. The names are printed in a single column on each of the four panels using red and black ink.

150 names of those who lost their lives in the FirstWorld War are commemorated on the memorial. A transcription of these names is on the North East War Memorials Project website.
