The Heighlngton War Memorial is located outside the Entrance to St, Michael's
Church, East Green The memorial is a wheeled Celtic cross set in a recess
in the churchyard wall.
The First World War commemorations are inscibed in stone panels on either
side of the memorial. The Second World War commemorations are in a panel beneath
the Cross.
17 names are commemorated as having lost their lives in the First World War, and 10 in the Second World War.

Amongst the names of those who died is that of 1 soldier who served with the Yorkshire Regiment.
Private Thomas William Goldsborough. 48190. 12th Battalion the Yorkshire
Regiment, formerly 5/11060 87th T R Battn. Son of George and Elizabeth Goldsborough,
of Heighington, Darlington. Killed 11 April 1918. Aged
18.
Born Heighington (Nr. Darlington), Enlisted Darlington.
Buried CROIX-DU-BAC BRITISH CEMETERY, STEENWERCK.
