St. james the Great Church, Hebden Bridge, has two First World War Memorials.
Outside the church, on the South wall of the church building, is a Memorial
Cross.
This memorial has a stone base surmounted by plinth, shaft and Celtic cross.
The dedication is in relief on the base of the shaft and commemorations are
incised on the plinth.
52 names are commemorated on this memorial as having lost their lives in the
First World war. A transcription of the names is on the Imperial War Museum's
Register
of War Memorials website.
Inside the church is a nowy-headed bronze plaque mounted onto a nowy-headed
wooden backboard.The commemorations are in relief.

One soldier who served in the Yorkshire Regiment is commemorated on both of the memorials.
Private Eric Atack, 81275. 8th Coy Machine Gun Corps (Infantry),
formerly 38104 Yorkshire Regiment. Killed 4 May 1917.
Born Hebden Bridge (Yorks), Enlisted Halifax (Yorks), Resided Hebden Bridge.
