The Haswell War Memorial is located in the Churchyard of St. Paul's Church, Haswell. The memorial consists of a cross on top of a sturdy granite pedestal. The dedication of the memorial is on the front face of this pedestal.
The names of the 83 men who lost their lives in the First World War are commemorated on the three other faces of the pedestal.

Private Hugh Ellis. 19320. 9th Battalion Yorkshire
Regiment. Son of Edward Ellis, of Rawsthorn Terrace, South Hetton, Co. Durham.
Killed 10 July 1916. Aged 27.
Born South Hetton (Durham), Enlisted Houghton-le-Spring, Resided Haswell (Sunderland).
Commemorated on Pier and Face 3A & 3D, THIEPVAL MEMORIAL.
Private Percy Hughes, 16947. 6th Battalion the Yorkshire
Regiment. Killed 17 December 1915.
Born Dublin, Enlisted Sunderland, Resided Wheatley Hill.
Buried ALEXANDRIA (CHATBY) MILITARY AND WAR MEMORIAL CEMETERY.
Private Joseph Thompson, 16329. 11th Battalion Yorkshire
Regiment. Son of John and Ann Thompson. Died at home 26 February 1916. Aged
42.
Born Greencroft (West Stanley - Durham), Enlisted Sunderland, Resided Thornley
(Durham).
