of War Memorials
The Greengates Wesleyan Sunday School War Memorial is a cast bronze plaque on a painted wooden backboard with embossed lettering. The board is pitched at the top. Two figures in relief are on either side of the inscription at top centre. The left side figure is a soldier with full uniform, long coat and rifle. The right figure is a sailor. Both figures face inwards towards a scroll bearing the dedication.
The memorial was originally in the Greengates Wesleyan Church, but is now kept in the Bradford Museum Service Store, Westgate, Bradford.
18 names are shown on the memorial as having lost their lives in the First World War, and a further 149 served and returned. A transcription of the names is on the Imperial War Museum's Register of War Memorials.
