The
Finedon War Memorial

The War Memorial for Finwdon is located o the Wellinborough Road, opposite Cromer Road.
The memorial is a monolithic cenotaph with a circular capstone surmounted by a small Latin cross. The base is cruciform. The whole is surrounded by railings. The commemorations are on slate tablets attached to the sides of the cenotaph.
131 names are commemorated as having lost their lives in the First World War.
3 soldiers who served with the Yorkshire Regiment are commemorated on the memorial.
Private Arthur Desborough. 235092. 4th Battalion the Yorkshire Regiment.
Killed 26 March 1918.
Born Finedon (Northants), Enlisted Finedon.
Commemorated on Panels 31 and 32, POZIERES MEMORIAL.
Private Percy Lilley, 6181. 4th Battalion Yorkshire Regiment. Killed
15 November 1916.
Born Finedon (Wellingborough), Enlisted Finedon.
Commemorated on Pier and Face 3A & 3D, THIEPVAL MEMORIAL.
Private Gerald Towers. 202265 (6146). 4th Battalion
Yorkshire Regiment, formerly 5353 Northants Regt. Son of Jonathan A. and Alice
Towers, of Tenter Lane, Finedon, Northants; husband of the late Mabel Maria
Towers, of Burton Latimer. Killed 23 April 1917. Aged 24.

Commemorated on Bay 5, ARRAS MEMORIAL.
