The Featherstone War Memorial is in a garden enclosed by wall with plaques mounted on the wall. There are a total of eleven panels in the garden which commemorate lives lost in the First and Second World Wars and other conflicts. On one panel is inscribed the list of donors.
The Featherstone War Memorial is located in Station Lane, just North of the railway station.

352 names are commemorated as having lost their lives in the First World War, 74 in the Second World War, and 5 in subsequent conflicts.

Amongst the names commemorated on the memorial are 6 soldiers who served with the Yorkshire Regiment.


Private James Allen, 35867. 2nd/4th Battalion Duke of Wellington's (West Riding Regiment), formerly 60182 Yorkshire Regiment. Son of the late Matthew and Elizabeth Ann Allen, of Wakefield; husband of Sarah Elizabeth Allen, of 45, Vicarage Lane, Featherstone, Pontefract, Yorks. Killed 29 September 1918. Aged 29.
Born Wakefield, Enlisted Saltburn (Yorks), Resided Featherstone (Yorks).
Buried GRAND RAVINE BRITISH CEMETERY, HAVRINCOURT.

Private Hebert Clayton. 58043. 6th Battalion the Yorkshire Regiment. Killed 2 April 1919.
Born Carlton (Nr Selby - Yorks), Enlisted Featherstone.
Buried Bolshoi Ozerki Cem.
Commemorated on the ARCHANGEL MEMORIAL.

Private Arthur Harrison, MM, 24657. 13th Battalion the Yorkshire Regiment. Killed 23 November 1917.
Born Wakefield (Yorks), Enlisted Wakefield.
Commemorated on the CAMBRAI MEMORIAL, LOUVERVAL.

Private Ernest Sanderson. 5533. 5th Battalion Yorkshire Regiment. Son of William and Hannah Sanderson, of 55, Norwood St., Scarborough; husband of Alice Mary Longbottom (formerly Sanderson), of 5, South View, Halfpenny Lane, Featherstone, Pontefract, Yorks. Killed 14 November 1916. Aged 32.
Born Scarborough, Enlisted Scarborough.
Commemorated Pier and Face 3 A and 3 D, THIEPVAL MEMORIAL.

Captain Harry Hargreaves Simpkin. 13th Battalion the Yorkshire Regiment. Son of John William and Emily Simpkin, of Norton Royd, Woodkirk, Dewsbury, Yorks. Killed 22 March 1918. Aged 22.
Commemorated on Bay 5, ARRAS MEMORIAL.
