When WW1 conscription was introduced in 1916, the Farnhill Parish Council created a Roll of Honour - naming 68 men from the village who had volunteered or who were already serving with the armed forces. This Roll came to the attention of the Farnhill and Kildwick Local History Group in 2014, when the Parish Council loaned the minute book to the group and allowed it to be scanned.

In January 1916 the Clerk to the Farnhill Parish Council compiled a list of the 68 menfrom Farnhill who were WW1 Volunteers and this was included in the Council's minute book.

The Farnhill WW1 Volunteers Project have studied these names and have compiled biographies for all 68 names, together with photographs of the men.

One soldier who served with the Yorkshire Regiment is amongst hese names.
