The First World War Memorial in Holy Trinity Church, Elsecar, is a marble plaque with raised border. The centre panel with the names commemorated is of paler marble than the surround.

32 names are commemorated as having lost their lives in the First World War

1 soldier who served with the Yorkshire Regiment is commemorated on the memorial.

Private Frederick Kay. 53582. 9th Battalion the Yorkshire Regiment, formerly 40672 West Riding Regt. Born at Elsecar. Son of Joseph and Sarah Kay, of 21, Hadfield St., Wombwell, Barnsley. Killed 24 October 1918. Aged 23.
Born Hoyland (Yorks), Enlisted Hoyland. Resided Elsecar (Barnsley).
Buried LE CATEAU MILITARY CEMETERY.
