The War Memorial for Esat Boldon is located at the Eastern end
of Front Street, East Boldon. The memorial is a cross on a tapered shaft,
which sits on a square base. The names of those commemorated are inscribed
on panels set on either side of the square base.
There are two panels commemorating those who died in the First World War,
with a total of 79 names listed. A further panel (on the front of the memorial)
commemorates the names of 39 who lost their lives in the Second World War.
The names on the panels have been transcribed on the Lost
Ancestors website.
One soldier who served in the Yorkshire Regiment is commemorated on the memorial.

Regiment. Killed 10 September 1918.
Born Stalybridge (Ches), Enlisted Sunderland, Resided East Boldon (Co. Durham).
Buried GLAGEON COMMUNAL CEMETERY EXTENSION.
