The Blacker Hill War Memorial is situated inside a small park on the Barnsley Road, Black Hill.
The memorial is an obelisk on a two stepped square base. The memorial stands
in a paved area with a path leading to it.
The memorial has been renovated recently. The original memorial dedication
and commemorations had become very weathered, and have been replaced by a
face made of black granite in which the dedication and commemoratu=ions are
incised in gold lettering.
The memorial commemorates 24 names of those who fell in the First World War.
1 soldier who served with the Yorkshire Regiment is commemorated on the memorial.
We are very grateful to Wayne Bywater (<waynetyke123@aol.com>) for photograophing this memorial.
