The War Memorial in the Church of St. Paul, Birkenshaw (Kirklees) is an Open Chancel Screen with four shields of oak bearing the First World War commemorations, and a shield of bronze with the Second World War commemorations.
76 names are commemorated of those who lost their lives in the
First World War, and 39 for those in the Second World War.

of War Memorials website.
2 soldiers of the Yorkshire Regiment are commemorated on the memorial in St. Paul's Church, Birkenshaw.
Private Rudolph Arnold Jackson. 14328. 7th Battalion
Yorkshire Regiment. Son of Ralph and Priscilla Jackson, of Allen Croft, Birkenshaw,
Yorks. Died of wounds 26 October 1915. Aged 28.
Born Allen Croft (Bradford), Enlisted Bradford, Resided Birkenshaw (Bradford)
Buried ETAPLES MILITARY CEMETERY.
Serjeant Robert Francis Mallpress. 7864. 2nd Battalion
the Yorkshire Regiment. Killed 15 June 1915.
Born Skipton (Yorks), Enlisted Bradford.
Commemorated on Panel 12, LE TOURET MEMORIAL.
Serjeant Robert Mallress was in the original 2nd Battalion of
the Yorkshire Regiment that arrived in Belgium in October 1914.
He took part in the First Battle of Ypres.
Before joining the Yorkshire Regiment he had lived at 9 South Terrace, Birkenshaw.
In the 1911 Census he was serving with the 2nd Battaion on garrison duty in
Egypt..
Before sailing for Belgium and shortly after arriving with the 2nd Battalion
from garrison duty in the Channnel Islands, he married Alice Holliday (New
Forest, Q3 1914)
Alice is shown as being his sole legatee on his death.
