The Banff War Memorial is located at the junction of Castle Street and Seafield Street in Banff (Grampian, Scotland).

The memorial is a fine axed cenotaph mounted on a two stepped base with Greek cross positioned near top of the front face. The dedication is on front face of cenotaph. The rustic segement shaped wall behind bears the commemorative tablets.

145 names are commemorated as having lost their lives in the First World War, and 39 in the Second World War. A transcription of the names is on the Imperial War Museum's Register of War Memorials website.

1 soldier who served with the Yorkshire Regiment is commemorated on this memorial.


Corporal Herbert Henderson. 15810. 7th Battalion Yorkshire Regiment. Killed 1 July 1916.
Born Newdeer (Aberdeen), Enlisted South Shields.
Commemorated on the FRICOURT MEMORIAL.
Buried FRICOURT BRITISH CEMETERY.

The Pension Record card for Corporal Henderson shows that his mothre, Isabella, lived in Banff.
