The Bainton (East Yorks) War Memoriaol is situated in St. Andrew's Churchyard.

The memorial is a stone cross with floriated ends, surmounting a tapering octagonal shaft. The cross stands on an octagonal pedestal which bears a carved dedication and commemorations. The pedestal surmounts an octagonal base.
The inscriptions on the memorial are heavily weathered and are difficult to read. A transcription of these inscriptions is on the Imperial War Museum's Register of War Memorials website.

12 names are commemorated on the memorial as having died in the First World War.

One soldier who served with the Yorkshire Regiment is commemorated on the War Memorial.


Private Richard Colley Wilson. 3199. 5th Battalion Yorkshire Regiment. Son of John William and Ada Wilson, of "Church View," Bainton, Yorks. Died 27 September 1916. Aged 20.
Enlisted Bridlington, Resided Bainton.
Buried DANTZIG ALLEY BRITISH CEMETERY.
