The Allerton and Daisy Hill War Memorial

The Allerton and Daisy Hill War Memorial is located at the entrance to Lady Hill Park, Allerton Rd, Allerton (Bradford).
The base of the memorial surmounted by a pedestal and cast figures of a hooded female figure supporting a wounded soldier, to whom a naked youth offers a laurel wreath. A dedicatory inscription is carved onto the front face of the pedestal and the commemorated names are cast on bronze plaques on the sides of the memorial. The cowled figure of death supports a soldier with a young boy symbolising posterity offering a laurel wreath in tribute to the soldier.
92 names are commemorated as having lost their lives in the
First World War, and 39 in the Second World War.

3 soldiers who served in the Yorkshire Regiment are commemorated on the memorial.
Private William Beecroft. 27531. 10th Battalion the Yorkshire Regiment.
Son of Sylvester and Amelia Ann Beecroft, of Bradford, Yorks. Killed 4 October
1916. Aged 26.
Born Bradford, Enlisted Bradford.
Buried ABBEVILLE COMMUNAL CEMETERY EXTENSION.
Private Harold Linton Knight, 20505. 6th Battalion the Yorkshire
Regiment. Killed 27 September 1917.
Born Bradford, Enlisted Leeds.
Buried POELCAPELLE BRITISH CEMETERY.

Private Thomas Edward O'Brien, 35504. 2nd Battalion Yorkshire Regiment.

18.
Born Bradford, Enlisted Bradford.
