The Qar memorial in St. Oswald's Church, Abbeydale (shefield) is an oak rood screen with dedicatory inscription carved in relief along the top of the panels and the names painted below onto the panels in gold lettering with black outline. Second World War commemorations are painted onto the side panels bordering the aisle.
95 names are commemorated as having lost their lives in the First World War, and 7 in the Second World War.
1 soldier who served with the Yorkshire Regiment is commemorated on this war Mmeorial.
Private Frank Pennock. 34469. 7th Battalion Yorkshire
Regiment. Formerly 204890 York & Lancs Regt. Killed 15 November 1917.
Born Sheffield, Enlisted Sheffield.
Commemorated Panel 52 to 54 and 162A, TYNE COT MEMORIAL.
( Frank Pennock was married to Ethel and had two sons, both of whom served
in WW2. Charles Eggington Pennock in the D.L.I. and Frank Leslie Pennock in
the R.A.F.)
