Born Atterford (Somerset), Enlisted Taunton, Resided North Curry (Somerset).

Private William Walker. 7293. 2nd Battalion Yorkshire Regiment. Killed 4 November 1914.
Born Trinity (Derby), Enlisted Derby, Resided Castle Donnington.

Major Wilfrid Beckett Walker. 2nd Battalion Yorkshire Regiment. Son of Capt. Edwyn Walker. His brother, Capt. O.B. Walker was also lost. Killed 29 October 1914. Aged 38.
Commmemorated on Panel 33, YPRES (MENIN GATE) MEMORIAL.

(His name is shown as "Wilfred" in the CWGC records, but he was christened "Wilfrid".
The following is taken from "Officers of the Green Howards 1688 -1931" by M L Ferrar;-
Born at Scarborough 5 August 1876, 2nd son of Captain Edwyn Walker, 15th Hussars.
2nd Lieut 20 February 1897; Lieut 15 October 1898; Captain 25 June 1904; Major 3 December 1913.
Served in the Boer War, 1900-02. Operations in the Orange River Colony, including actions at Vet and Zand Rivers. In the advance Eastwards, actions at Diamond Hill and Belfast. With the 2nd Battalion Mounted Infantry in operations in the Transvaal, 30 November 1900 to the end of the war.
Mentioned in despatches, Queen's medal and 4 clasps, King's medal and 2 clasps.
Proceeded to Zeebrugge with the 2nd Battalion in October 1914 and was killed at Ypres, 29 October 1914.")

(Captain O B Beckett was with the 15th (The King's) Hussars and was killed on 23 August 1914.)

Son of Ellen Hansom (formerly Wallinger), of Urlay Nook, Yarm, Yorks., and the late William Wallinger; husband of Jane Ann Calvert (formerly Wallinger), of 1, Newlands Rd., Eaglescliffe, Co. Durham. Killed 24 May 1915. Aged 34.
Born Seaton Carew (Hartlepool), Enlisted Yarm, Resided Eaglescliffe.

Private Humphrey Walton. 260124. 2nd Battalion Yorkshire Regiment. Formerly 4053 Durham L I. Son of John and Jane Walton, of 93, South Terrace, Cornsay Colliery, Co. Durham. Killed 31 July 1917. Aged 23.

Lance Corporal James Joseph Wanless, 575. 4th Battalion Yorkshire Regiment. Killed 1 May 1915.

Private Albert Victor Warren. 42526. 9th Battalion Yorkshire Regiment. Formerly 183562 Royal Field Artillery. Son of James and Emily Warren, of The Anchor Inn, Church St., Wiveliscombe, Somerset. Killed 7 June 1917. Aged 20.

Private Albert Wastell, 1500. 4th Battalion the Yorkshire Regiment. Son of Thomas and Annie Wastell, of Danby's Yard, Yarm, Yorks. Killed 15 July 1915. Aged 19.

Serjeant Septimus Waugh. 17906. 9th Battalion Yorkshire Regiment. Son of James and Catherine Waugh, of Row, Roadhead, Carlisle. Killed 7 June 1917. Aged 29.

Corporal Frederick Ernest Webber. 8468. 2nd Battalion Yorkshire Regiment. Son of George and Annie Webber; husband of Amy Beatrice Rodley (formerly Webber), of I, Brown's Court, Swan St., York. Killed 30 October 1914. Aged 26.

Private George William Webb, 1313. 4th Battalion the Yorkshire Regiment. Son of George and Annie E. Webb, of 8, Pearson St., Middlesbrough. Killed 24 May 1915. Aged 21.

(In the 1911 Census, the Webb family were living at 104, Lumley Street, Middlesbrough. In the Census, George William Webb was siad to have been born in Doncaster.)

Lieutenant Charles Guy Weston. 7th Battalion the Yorkshire Regiment. Killed 1 November 1915. (Lieutenant C G Weston's name originally appearred on the Memorial, but he is buried in Divisional Cemetery. He is listed in the CWGC database in Divisional Cemetery and no longer in the database for the Ypres (Menin Gate) Memorial.).

Commemorated on Panel 4 and 6, YPRES (MENIN GATE) MEMORIAL.
(Percy Wollaston is commemorated on the Hexham, Northumberland, War Memorial. Therfore his place of enlistment would not have been "Hexham (Suffolk)" but Hexham (Northumberland).)

(Lieutenant R B Woosnam, although inscribed on the Memorial under the "Yorkshire Regiment" is listed in the CWGC register under the Worcestershire Regiment! He is shown in SDGW as being in the Yorkshires, though does not appear in Green Howards Gazette records.
In the CWGC register he is shown as " Son of Bowen Pottinger Woosnam and Kate Woosnam of 41 Warwick Gardens, Kensington. Aged 34." But the CWGC register also shows him as being on the Addenda Panel, Helles Memorial!)
