**Private Aarons was one of 16 soldiers who served in the Yorkshire Regiment who are commemorated in the British Jewry Book of Honour. Of the 50,000 Jews who served with the British and Colonial Forces during the First World War, 2,324 lost their lives and are commemorated in this book.

Private Frank Adams, 204474. 7th Battalion Yorkshire Regiment. Son of Elizabeth Adams, of 29, Harvey St., Byker, Newcastle-on-Tyne, and the late William Adams. Killed 15 October 1917. Aged 30.

Private Herbert Horace Airey, 39232. 2nd Battalion Yorkshire Regiment. Son of Elizabeth Airey, of 56, North Bondgate, Bishop Auckland, and the late John Airey. Killed 8 May 1918. Aged 29.

Private George Herbert Akers, 200490. 8th Battalion Yorkshire Regiment. Son of James and Mary Ann Akers, of New Row, Kirkby Wiske, Thirsk. Killed 19 October 1917. Aged 26.
