The War Memorial for Truro, Cornwall, is situated in front of Coinage Hall, (now Charlotte's TeaHouse and Pizza Express). Magic Fingers has photographed the memorial, so that transcripitons of the names of those who fell in the First World War and subsequent conflicts may be obtained from the the photographs of the commemorative panels.

One soldier of the Yorkshire Regiment is commemorated on the memorial.


Private Frederick Charles Hitchings, 42354. 5th Battalion the Yorkshire Regiment, formerly 164248 R F A. Husband of H. Hitchings, of 3, Seaview Terrace, West Looe, Cornwall. Killed 29 March 1918.
Born Truro, Enlisted Truro.
Buried NAMPS-AU-VAL BRITISH CEMETERY.
(Shown as "F C Hitchens" in both SDGW and GH Gazette database and on the Truro War memorial, but as "Hitchings" in the CWGC register and as "Hitchins" in the Medal Roll Index.)
